Contains items collected by Brigham Young University folklore students as examples of material lore symbolizing love. Items were collected by students in folklore classes at Brigham Young University and Utah State University from 1997. Most of the items are typewritten, but a few of the older items are handwritten. Many of the items contain a description of how, when, and where they were collected as well as explanations of social and cultural contexts.

Report by Brigham Young University folklore student Janet Lelani Messer, who collected information from her roommate, Kristi Melnichuk. Wooden dolls were purchased to commemorate children who were left on a mountaintop because their parents could not afford them.

Report by Brigham Young University folklore student Cris Richardson, who collected information from his grandfather, Henry Yamamoto. As a young man, Henry began carving monkeys inside peach pits, which have become family keepsakes.
